Today it begins...

I've been hearing more and more lately how sugar is horrible for you and may be the cause of many ailments. I've always said that I could never give up sugar!  Well, It's time for me to try.  I attempted this last month and got about a week and a half of no sweets, except for a few squares of dark chocolate and whatever was added into some of the foods I was eating.  When it came time for a birthday celebration, I had to have a few bites of cake!  Well, then the next day was a family reunion and there was a long dining table of sweets ready for people to get sick on.  There were even a few "sugar free" deserts.  Most people haven't figured out yet that "sugar free" is worse for you than actual sugar!  America lives on diet soda when this is actually causing them to get fatter.  I hope to one day be able to truly say I am not craving something sweet.  I want to be able to have a few bites of a birthday cake and then be satisfied.  I don't want to give up on sugar totally.  I want to have an occasional glass of wine or piece of chocolate cake when it is a special occasion.  Right now, the way I eat sweets is like a crack addict needs crack.  Sugar is addictive.  If I want to get rid of my sugar craving that I have everyday, then I must give it up for awhile before I can have some occasionally.  So here I go...
